As always, end of the year calls for celebration and weddings is the mother of all celebration! Not surprising that we were busier-than-ever during this period. Please excuse us if we didn’t response to your inquiry or too busy to pick up our phone during that period. This time we have very interesting portfolios to share, from ballroom to restaurant to outdoor. December being the wettest month of the year, challenged our ability once again as we braced few outdoor weddings in our calender. True to their effortless chic, the wedding is nothing sort of details and color coordinated designs. We are proud to be part of their coordination team and bringing Irene’s concept design to reality!

Been awhile since I touch my DIY corner as my hands are really full with upcoming events and pre-works! Yes, my body is aching, but I’m loving it and really enjoy every bit of it, and grateful for the blessings~ In this post, I would like to share my recent creations of DIY wedding guest book. I received a request from a church friend on making a Guest book as she has been searching around for her bestie’s wedding at the end of the month in Bali but to no avail.

Guest book doesn’t always has to be a traditional book filled with a long list of names. It’s supposed to be a book filled with a personality which can be fun and meaningful; fetching precious moments and lovey-dovey memories back to the couple during wedding anniversaries~!!

I must admit that apart from being a wedding’s devotee; I am a schizophrenic scrapper! Scrapbooking is a way I express my thankfulness for EVERYTHING God has created and the processes have always surprise me! Fascinating~!! I love to challenge my scrapbooking limit with crazy ideas and birthing of new designs which stands out in a subtle way through tweeting with the color combinations and anything “ART” or “Handmade” (if time permitting). If I know a particular loved one who likes a certain style – I will scrap in that manner for him/her because the finished work of the Artpiece and my heart for them always cheer them up, bringing joy into their lives.

Creating something out of nothing and giving a personality to it, is truly a wonderful and addictive experience.

We are so grateful & lucky for our awesome couple who trust and rely on us from start to finish.

When Joy & William contacted us to helping them in planning their small, intimate wedding back then last year; I was ecstatic! They wanted a fun with garden feels but yet elegant wedding details so we incorporating bright yellow, blue and silver color as part of their wedding theme.

We shortlisted some of the venue which fits their budget and requirements, and the final goes to Burkill Hall at Botanic Garden.

The angle of the interview is more on a profile of wedding planner and comments on putting together the English Classic themed wedding as well as our thoughts on the recent Royal wedding.

One of our Royal inspired theme which also catches their eyes and they love it very much! Initially we intend to put up some of the event photos which they approved it, however due to space constraint they have to omit the pictures at the final layout. Actually we’d prefer them to publish the event photos instead of our photo as we (I think can’t use we here, the problem is with me ‘Lily’ heee~) don’t like to deal with camera/video and media exposure.

The interview and photo taking sessions was great! We had lots of fun and enjoy it very much. We cannot be more thankful for our wonderful clients and grateful for God’s blessings and grace.

We are at Batam this weekend for Wedding of Yeni & Jack, the event takes place at Pacific Palace Hotel, Batam – Indonesia. I would like to share on how important to have DOC (Day of Coordinator). Yeni & Jack approached us 10 days before their wedding day as they are disappointed by their Wedding Planner, which withdrawn 2 weeks before the BIG day. It’s indeed BIG day for them with 1,700 guests and 9 VIP tables (invited Batam Governor and Indonesia Parliaments – DPR). During our first meeting they really desperate and lost, lots of family members offer their hands on their wedding which causing a mess and confusion. Good to have helpful family but not too many parties involved.

Yeni is Indonesian Chinese and Jack is American Born Chinese, this reception is mainly for Bride’s side only (family, friends, and relatives) and they have another separate reception in New York for Jack’s relatives/friends.

I did consider a lot in the beginning, most of my clients hire me 5-6 months before their wedding and I do prefer working closely with them to insure quality service & to plan out all the details. (I actually love giving my opinions on choosing linens, flowers, lighting & decor details and not to mention going with them to food & cake tasting! keke). Not only do I enjoy the process of planning a wedding together with the couple, but I also really appreciate and love getting to know them throughout the process.

Having a coordinator can be the best investment you’ll make during your planning and I always mention this to my clients before they sign the contract:

1. Hire your DOC at least one or two months prior to your event. You need to understand that although you’re practically hiring them for the day of, it requires extensive work & communication in order to create a flawless event.
2. Your DOC will not be held responsible for any lack of professionalism or service by the vendors, especially if the bride & groom have chosen their own vendors outside of the recommendations.

There are so many components of a wedding – from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to all the activities that take place during the reception. A professional coordinator makes sure that you keep on schedule, maintain a great flow, handle any crises that may arise and make sure the day is worry and stress free for you. However, you cannot expect your DOC to do it alone, it’s a team work between all the vendors & on site banquet manager.

There also needs to be a complete trust between the coordinator and the bride, to be sure that the coordinator will take care of any sticky issue that may arise during the planning process. This will also mean that she will have to be quick, discerning, frank, and somewhat courageous to step up, even when her reputation is on the line. However, she also needs to be wise as to what to say and how to say when they hear all sorts of complaints about their in-laws, future husband to-be, parents, friends, MOH, and not to mention, some of their vendors. For this reason, you want to find someone not only resourceful but someone who knows how to deal with real life issues. As you can see, being a coordinator is more than making things pretty or being organized; she needs to handle real life crisis with poise and professionalism
Bottom line is, whoever you choose as your coordinator, ask yourself, “Does she know my taste? Is she on the same page or ahead of me to guide me through the process?”
